We recognize that there is a lack of trainings that center Black, Indigenous and People of Color and look forward to having this opportunity available to help build community and relationships in the outdoors. This course will prioritize registration for Black, Indigenous and Latinx folks.

You will be empowered to pitch your own tent, navigate your way up a trail, read the river and the stars, lead games, and help prepare camp meals.

This rest retreat will center Black youth 11-14 years old as we venture into the North Cascades to reflect, practice mindfulness, and connect with the outdoors through games, art and team building activities. We will be staying in European-style lodges. at the North Cascade Institute. All meals and snacks are provided. Departure from South Seattle.

Join us for a 3-part Intro to Mountain Biking series! Learn the basics of bike handling through games and drills, building up to riding trails at Cheasty Park, Seattle's only mountain bike specific trail system!

When: July 18, 20, and 25 from 5pm to 7pm at Cheasty Greenspace, 4384 Cheasty Blvd S.

Age eligibility: 10 to 14 year old; must be able to ride a bike :)

All gear (bikes, helmets, safety pads), plus snacks, and water will be provided.

Cultivating a connection with water doesn’t always occur naturally. Sometimes confidence comes in the context of community and being resourced with skills and knowledge. This is an entry-level free event for youth ages 12-17. All youth participants will receive a free fitted life vest through Washington State Parks’ Paddle Safe WA Program.

Drop off and pick up at Dash Point State Park.

Youth should come with lunch. Snacks and water will be provided.

Youth and Families of Young, Black, and Brilliant, we are so excited to be with you and/or your child at Cherry Creek Trailhead. Come ready to take up space, use your outside voice, connect with your peers, and soak up your surroundings in new and deep ways.

Snacks, hiking boots, water bottles, sitting pads, and trekking poles will be provided. Please pack a sack lunch.

We can provide transportation for the first 12 folks who request it. Pick up is in Auburn, WA.

Come under the sea with us! We are excited to host this sliding scale viewing of The Little Mermaid because sometimes curoisty about nature is fostered through the media and , honestly, we need more Black mermaids.

Ticket cost: $0-$12

The viewing will be at Ark Lodge Cinema in Columbia City, Seattle. Doors
open at 9:30AM, seating is first come first served.

After the viewing, grab a free slice of pizza (thanks to a donation from Paggliaci Pizza) and then join us at Seward Park. We will be joining our friends at Golden Bricks Events during their Refuge Day: Pride Edition celebration. At 1pm we will be facilitating an interactive reading of Julian is a Mermaid by Jessica Love. We invite all Humans, Merpeople, Fish, & Sea Serpents to a "fintastic" afternoon of storytelling mermaid games with a real Black Mermaid! Learn the secrets of Afro-Indigenous Sirens and Water Spirits, play "mermazing" games, and discover our own individual Mermagic.

We are excited to partner with the Washington Trails Association to offer a hyper-affordable 18+ BIPOC NOLS Wilderness First Aid Course on February 24 -25, 2023 from 8am-5pm! This two-day intensive will equip you with the skills to anticipate risks and hazards, identify medical, traumatic, environmental problems, recognize life-threatening issues, initiate basic care and deliver a cohesive report when in wilderness situations. The cost of this course is $40.

Lunch will be provided.

For this Wilderness First Aid course, we are prioritizing Black, Indigenous, and Latinx participants.
